 We are excited to finally share a new update on the Court Case process for Marlena’s Bistro and Pizzeria. A date has finally been appointed and we will be in court on September 7th 2023 at 11:00am. Full court information is below:

If you have not followed along, I, Marlena was arrested on March 19th of 2021 and spent 5 days in jail for defying orders put in place by Governor Whitmer and her control over MDAR. This will be our 2nd round with the court of appeals for our court case. In our 1st round in court, my case did not gain any friction as a decision could not be made on whether my case should be deemed civil or criminal. Judge Wanda Stoike stated it did not matter per the decision as they were going to be keeping the balance of all fines paid by myself anyway. A total of $15,000 in fines. It was stated that half of the total fines paid was to be given to MDAR and the other half was going to be given to the state police. The Michigan State Police voiced their opinion to me at my arrest how they did not agree with the actions being taken against me but were only following orders being mandated per our government and elected officials. After my arrest, my business remained closed for 6 months because the Judge demanded to be handed jurisdiction over the matter. Due to a lack of decision, my case was sent back to Inham County where I had my arraignment and the waiting continued. 

After the public news release of MDAR not having proper jurisdiction, I was approached by the Detroit News Paper congratulating me on my win within my case. I was confused as I had yet to even be granted a court date. The courts have continued to delay and postpone over and over with no penalties for the delays. My personal attorney has filed paperwork for an appointed court date 3 different times with no response continually. We have waited a long time for this and are super excited to finally have this appointed court date and are looking forward to proper justice for all businesses and organizations involved.
